ATTENTION!
A REMINDER! We are not allowed to park our cars IN THE STREETS OVERNIGHT! This ordinance is enforced from October 15 to April 15th of the following year. This will be especially important to remember when we have leaf pickups and snow plowing. If you leave your car in the street overnight and plows come through, they will NOT be responsible for any damages that happen to your car while plowing! You may also find that your car is either covered with salty snow (which is bad for your car's surface), and probably blocked with mounds of road snow. I've also had a few complaints about neighbors parking their cars in front of another neighbor's house instead of their own. Please be respectful of your neighbors. If they have guests and you're parking in front of their house, they will have no room for their guests to park!

FROM CITY HALL: The Portage Code of Ordinances, Chapter 66, Article1, Section 66-2, prohibits residents from having basketball stands in the city right-of-way (in the street or in street next to the curb). Also, during trash/garbage and recycling removal days, citizens are requested to keep their containers on the curbs verses in the actual street.

OUR NEXT BRUSH PICKUP IS IN THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF JANUARY. It will be a perfect time to set your trees out to be picked up...also trimmings bushes...IT IS NOT A LEAF PICKUP, from what I understand. Do not set out leaves, railroad ties, logs, stumps, or branches larger than four feet long and 3" inches around.
